BrainSpace is built on a simple premise: your brain is yours. This policy explains what data we collect, where it lives, and how we protect it. The short version is that we collect very little, store almost nothing on our own servers, and never sell or share your information with advertisers.
Who We Are

The Data We Do Not Collect
We want to be explicit about what we do not do, because it shapes everything else:
- We do not run analytics SDKs or any third-party tracking.
- We do not serve ads and have no ad network relationships.
- We do not build behavioral profiles or sell your data to any party.
- We do not send your notes, tasks, or calendar events to our servers.
- We do not see or store your payment information — Apple handles all purchases.
On-Device AI
BrainSpace includes Bo the Brain, an AI assistant that processes your thoughts, suggests tasks, and helps you make sense of your brain dumps. Every AI inference Bo performs happens entirely on your device, using Apple Intelligence and Apple's Foundation Models framework. Your content never leaves your device to reach a cloud AI service operated by us or any third party.
This is not a marketing claim — it is an architectural constraint. Bo has no network endpoint to call. If you run BrainSpace in airplane mode, Bo works exactly the same.
Where Your Data Lives
BrainSpace syncs your data across your devices using Apple's infrastructure, not ours:
- Notes are stored as Markdown files in your iCloud Drive, in a folder you control.
- Tasks sync with Apple Reminders via the EventKit framework.
- Events sync with Apple Calendar via EventKit.
- Contacts are read (never written) from Apple Contacts. We use this to suggest people in collaborative contexts; we do not store or transmit your contact list.
- Shared Spaces use Apple CloudKit to sync between collaborating users. Data in a shared Space travels through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
3rd Brain, Inc. does not operate database servers that store your personal notes, tasks, events, or contacts. We have no backend with your data in it.
Device Permissions
BrainSpace will ask for the following iOS permissions at the time you use each feature:
- Calendars — to read and write events in Apple Calendar.
- Reminders — to read and write tasks in Apple Reminders.
- Contacts — read-only access to suggest people when sharing or collaborating.
- Photos — to let you attach images to notes.
- Microphone — to transcribe voice brain dumps. Audio is processed on-device and never uploaded.
You may revoke any permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings. Revoking a permission disables the corresponding feature; it does not delete any data you have already created.
Subscription and Purchases
BrainSpace offers a free tier and a paid Premium subscription ($7.99/month or $79.99/year). All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. 3rd Brain, Inc. never receives your credit card number, billing address, or any other payment details. Apple acts as the merchant of record. Refer to Apple's privacy policy for information about how they handle payment data.
Data We Do Collect (Minimally)
We collect a small amount of non-personal operational data:
- Crash reports — if the app crashes, Apple may send us an anonymized crash log through App Store Connect. These logs contain stack traces and device type, not your personal data or content.
- App Store analytics — Apple provides us with aggregated, anonymized metrics (download counts, session counts) through App Store Connect. We cannot identify individual users from this data.
Children
BrainSpace is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at ax@3rd-brain.com and we will delete it promptly.
International Users
BrainSpace is available globally through the App Store. Because your data is stored in your own iCloud account, it is subject to Apple's data residency policies. 3rd Brain, Inc. does not independently transfer your personal data across borders.
Your Rights
Because we do not store your personal data on our servers, most data rights (access, deletion, portability) are exercised directly with Apple for iCloud data. For any data we do hold (such as your email address if you contact us), you have the right to request access, correction, or deletion. Write to us at ax@3rd-brain.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as BrainSpace evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top and, if the change is significant, notify users within the app. Continued use of BrainSpace after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
